[A multisig wallet ](https://www.bitstamp.net/learn/security/what-is-a-multisig-wallet/)is a “digital wallet that operates with multisignature addresses. This means that it requires more than one private key to sign and authorize a crypto transaction or, in some cases, that several different keys can be used to generate a signature.” The reason that this type of wallet is valuable to an ecosystem is because it adds a second layer of protection to the end user. A multisig wallet requires that everyone with a private key confirms the transaction in order for it to be authorized and executed. This provides an added layer of security for protection against hacks because an attacker would need all of the private keys in order to gain access to the wallets funds. 

Although the general cryptocurrency market continues to demonstrate bearish patterns, the ethos of Ergo stands strong with numerous developers and projects working to help build the new standard of blockchain security and utility. Ergo development continues forward at a record pace. After the exciting announcement about the launch of Rosen Bridge, another important milestone has just been reached. The Ergo Platform now has its first multisig wallet, which has been designed by the Minotaur wallet team.

Ergo’s First Multi-signature Wallet Has Been Launched by Minotaur


Joseph Armenio has described the [Rosen Bridge](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xsiy-yPJQ6w&ab_channel=ErgoPlatform) (00:10) as “a trustless Ergo-centric second layer authentication bridge.” Armenio also goes on to state (00:32) that “the end goal of this bridge is not to be fast, but to be secure.” The main use case of the Rosen Bridge is to send and receive coins and tokens between Ergo and any other blockchain (Cardano at this moment). There will be no need to utilize smart contracts on other chains as the consensus will be performed on Ergo. 

The beta user interface is currently live at soft.rosen.tech. At the moment, the Rosen Bridge is only available for private testing. Bridge security and token distribution need to be tested to be sure the bridge is working as intended. Once testing is complete and devs are satisfied with the bridge’s security, the bridge will be made available to the public.

There has been a plethora of development on Ergo recently and another important milestone has just been reached. The Rosen Bridge has just gone live on Ergo and Cardano in soft launch mode. 


Ergo Launches Rosen Bridge to Cardano


In the spirit of building tools and products that take inspiration from the Ergo Manifesto, the team at ErgoLend ($EXLE) is building a platform for P2P borrowing and lending on the Ergo blockchain. This innovative dApp is still in its early days, but its founder, Chris Ray, has recently announced that ErgoLend has successfully funded two loans for Kenyan businesses. 

While the dApp is still being built out (with the ultimate goal of functioning under a DAO), the project has started to raise funds to create loan and investment opportunities within the ecosystem. With ErgoLend, all loans are available to anyone who would like to contribute - thus allowing people to be a part of the pool of lenders. Prospective lenders are offered a return of 5% on top of their initial investment for each loan that they help fund, and ErgoLend insures each loan to protect the contributions of its investors. 

The funds for the first ErgoLend loan were successfully raised via [ErgoRaffle with a surplus](https://ergoraffle.com/raffle/show/dfe947631c9b669a8aaeea1fcc25c175104891e5e6dad8279a9daa1ab548f77d) (the raffle more than doubled the fundraising goal), enabling the extra funds from this round of fundraising to go towards the next loan application in the queue. The recipient of this loan ($2500) is Margaret Mama Gibby and it will be repaid within 12 months, starting in September. 

The second loan ($3000) also reached its fundraising goal (with the assistance of the leftover funds from the first loan), and it is going to be used by Grace Lotoom for a Cyber Cafe business. The recipient of this loan has also agreed to a 12 month term that will start in September.

According to Ray, “as the borrowers continue to show their ability to repay loans and the platform continues to grow in popularity, I expect to see more and more lenders participate as well.” With his team in Kenya, Ray has indicated that demand for this kind of service could reach upwards of 20k borrowers in the first year alone.

Chris Ray has been a prominent member of the Ergo ecosystem, actively participating in the growth, promotion and education of the blockchain. In addition to ErgoLend, he has founded DeCo - an initiative to educate and onboard new community members and developers to Ergo.

ErgoLend: The First Loans on Ergo

[Paideia](https://www.paideia.im/) is a decentralized autonomous organization [(DAO)](https://ergoplatform.org/en/blog/2022-03-15-what-is-a-dao-decentralized-autonomous-organization/) software suite for [the Ergo blockchain](https://ergoplatform.org/en/). DAOs leverage blockchain technology to help people work together toward common goals. 

What do blockchains and DAOs offer that groups need? In short, it’s security, transparent governance, user-friendly software, and lower costs. These features enable ordinary people to band together and leverage their skills and resources, often as part of a global community.  

### Security
A proof-of-work blockchain like Ergo provides a solid, secure foundation for a DAO. On this foundation, it is possible to build multi-signature wallets, smart contracts and other types of secure software that is necessary for a DAO to work.

For example, a standard task of a DAO is to vote on some course of action. Ideally, a DAO can  automate the proposal and voting process, and then, a smart contract can do some action. For instance, that action could be to spend funds from a DAO treasury once the vote is completed. 

With a baseline of security, it is possible to create smart contracts for identity, reputation, vesting, profit-sharing, and a whole range of other features that have yet to be imagined.

### Security Audits & Open Source
One problem with security guarantees is that the average member of a DAO does not have the technical expertise to create or review a smart contract. So, DAO software needs to be created by a knowledgeable team and be subject to outside review by experts. Furthermore, releasing the code as open source software enables anyone interested to review the DAO code themselves. 

Paideia writes their own software, has it reviewed by experts, and all of its code will remain open source. If security is a process, this is an approach that can give DAO members confidence that the DAO software they use is secure.

### Transparent Governance 
In a distributed organization, decision-making must be transparent. It is not enough to have secure smart contracts. A DAO also needs to make decisions in a way that members understand and where the decisions made are supported by DAO membership. 

One way to make governance more transparent is to develop standards, such as standard governance presets to select from, consistent ways of voting, records that can be reviewed by new members, and so forth. Transparency needs to be consistent, and record keeping can be remain open and consistent by software using a blockchain.

Designing these processes is difficult. They need to be flexible enough to work with different use cases, yet they must also be consistent enough to create and meet the expectations of DAO members. 

Paideia’s initial focus is on creating two governance models: optimistic (sometimes referred to as [lazy consensus](https://rave.apache.org/docs/governance/lazyConsensus.html)) and [simple majority](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Majority) with [quorum](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quorum). Each will share standardized workflows and token management features and lay the groundwork for additional models in future iterations of the Paideia DAO software.

### Easy-To-Use, Cost-Effective & Global
Software that is too complex or expensive to use is of limited benefit to anyone. Paideia strives to be easy-to-use. It has an intuitive interface designed for use on a computer or mobile phone. This is important because it puts sophisticated DAO software into the hands of anyone with a cell phone.

One of the reasons to build Paideia on the Ergo blockchain is that transaction costs are low. A DAO software suite on many other blockchains is often prohibitively expensive for ordinary people. Paideia is attempting to broaden the market. With a lower barrier to entry and more accessibility, DAOs become more useful. It allows groups to form that would not have been able to work together in the past.

One of the things that make DAOs such a powerful tool is it enables people with common interests to work toward common goals. As much as the Internet has changed the way people communicate, DAOs will change the way groups of people coordinate their skills and resources, at scales that range from a group of friends to global communities. 

### Conclusion
Paideia is working on a complete software solution for DAO management and participation. With the security of the Ergo blockchain and transparent governance (packaged in an easy to use, cost-effective software-suite accessible by anyone with a cell phone around the world), Paideia will make DAO software, and its advantages, available to billions of people.

Paideia: A Secure, Easy to Use DAO

By closely following the Ergo Manifesto, Night Owl aims to revolutionize the casino industry. The big goal is being undertaken by a special team—the community.

This endeavor is entirely open-source and is attempting to improve upon the traditional methods of the casino industry. Night Owl plans on doing this by removing the central authority and allowing everyday people to become ‘the house,’ earning passive returns.

“Anyone can provide OWL to a liquidity pool that will act as the funds for the games. If a user plays roulette and wins, the payout would be taken from this pool and given to the user. If they lose? The payout goes to the liquidity pool and is split between liquidity providers. Casino games are built with a slight edge to the house, meaning that over time, ‘the house always wins.’ This method provides the opportunity for liquidity providers to gain passive returns.”

The best thing about these passive returns? They’re stable, meaning that there is no risk associated with the loss of value of a token. This will be done by pegging Night Owl’s token, the OWL, to stablecoins. Initially, it will be Ergo’s SigUSD. This is excellent news for SigUSD as it provides newfound utility to the coin, as was intended since its inception. However, they plan to offer different stablecoins as they become available on the Ergo Platform through various bridges. Night Owl users will be able to use the stablecoin of their choosing. 

Night Owl’s peg to SigUSD provides the additional benefit of a fair tokenomics, following the Ergo Manifesto Ideology. Like Ergo, Night Owl will not organize presales, IDO, team allotment, etc. The platform's development and growth are sustained through fees taken from revenue generated by the games.

If this weren’t enough, Night Owl would be fully transparent by providing the odds of each game on the platform. No more wondering if the game is rigged, as anyone can verify all the contracts and the random number generation through their open-source code.

Night Owl has started collaborating and integrating other Ergo projects into the mix. They will launch with integration to the wallets of Nautilus, SafeW, and Ergo Pay, allowing a user to choose which wallet they prefer. Artwork from the popular ERGnome team has also been seen in Night Owl. An ERGnome character can be seen in the theme for each of the initial four games. 

The Night Owl platform will also be open to third-party developers. As a developer, you will be able to fill out a form to integrate into the platform, subject to auditing for fairness. Night Owl will incentivize third-party development by allowing developers to take a percentage of the revenue their game creates.

The team has mentioned their aspirations for the platform’s future in their [Litepaper](https://medium.com/@NightOwlCasino/litepaper-7c360b2cff7). The group aims to tackle various goals. This includes becoming multi-chain and developing different gaming areas like sports booking and P2P bets.

The World’s Most Decentralized Casino is Being Built on Ergo

In October 2020, NFTs on the Ergo blockchain were launched. Looking back, it seems incredible how so much has been achieved in barely a year and a half. In the early days of Ergo NFTs, it was thanks to the work of the developer known as anon_real that artists could easily (and cheaply) mint their works and auction them to the highest bidder.

In February of 2021, the first Ergo NFT contest was announced, with prizes totaling 2000 ERG. A few months later, anon_real delighted the community with V2 of the Auction House, enabling artists to collect royalties, set up copyright protections, and even allow the possibility for bids to use custom tokens.

Enter SkyHarbor. Why the need for another Ergo NFT marketplace?

The developer behind the Ergosaurs ENFT line, known as Crypto Quokka, realized that a number of prospective ENFT buyers were either unwilling, or unable, to interact with any interface that wasn’t as simple as clicking a button to complete a transaction.

He enlisted the help of developers HazeyOneKenobi (part of the Ergnomes team, among others) and Krasavice Blasen to collaborate on building Skyharbor.

Even though Skyharbor is still in beta, it is already fully functional.

SkyHarbor Features:

* **Artist verification:** NFT artists “register” their information in the marketplace and, once verified, the NFTs are listed under their respective collections.
* **Instant transactions:** buying, selling and trading are as easy as clicking on a button.
* **Speed:** the transaction speed itself is greatly improved - the team is implementing chained transactions.
* **It enables royalty payments:** artists can set royalties for their work and get paid every time their work is resold on the secondary market. It is worth noting that both  SkyHarbor and the Auction House allow artists to set royalties.

The success and mass appeal of this new marketplace can not be denied; at the time of writing it is generating 5% of all Ergo transactions.

So, why is SkyHarbor still in beta?

It is due to the fact that the team is still hard at work to bring even more improvements and never-seen-before features to the ENFT space.

Future SkyHarbor Features:

* **Marketplace data:** this will allow both artists and buyers to keep track of the price history of NFTs.
* **Developing documentation** to enable smart contracts and marketplace API to be used by anyone.
* **Create a mass minter.** Currently, NFTs on Ergo can only be minted one at a time, but concrete steps are being taken to develop a tool that will allow for mass minting.
* **Vending machine:** SkyHarbor is working on its own vending machine. This will be an interface through which buyers can buy any number of ENFTs - with or without a predetermined maximum limit. The vending machine’s interface will specify the amount of ERG and wallet address, and once the buyer has completed the transaction, they receive the ENFTs in their wallet.

A lot of these tools do not yet exist. The SkyHarbor team believes that once they do, ENFTs will finally have the mass appeal that NFT collections on other chains currently enjoy.

According to Quokka, Ergo could handle the 10000 NFT drops we now see on Cardano. He even argues that this could be achieved with fewer congestion and drop issues. Ergo has already proven its ability to withstand high traffic drops. HazeyOneKenobi was part of the team that engineered the previous mass drops of the first Season of Ergnomes and Gnomekins.

SkyHarbor and its ability to offer artists a clean and seamless experience may just be what pushes the broader NFT community to give the ENFT space the attention it deserves. After all, not only can Ergo do everything other chains can, but it can do so without users paying astronomical fees.

Newest Ergo NFT Marketplace Gaining the Attention of Ergonauts

Education initiatives are an important aspect for the ongoing development of Ergo’s ecosystem and the team behind community project Ergo Lend, has developed a new online training course for those interested in learning about Ergo and ErgoScript. With courses like these, new community members can access resources to help them better understand the tools, structures and principles of Ergo.



The education program is named Ergo Learn - soon to be rebranded as DeCo (Decentralized Collaboration). Over a period of eight weeks, participants will learn about extended UTXO and boxes, registers, ErgoScript, designing simple systems, multi-transaction systems, and much more. According to their [Reddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/ergonauts/comments/qyczj4/announcing_ergolearn_come_learn_the_beginnings_of/) post, the ErgoLearn (DeCo) course aims to empower individuals with the following skills:



“1. Explain basic eUTXOs concepts

 2. Design basic Financial Systems on Ergo

 3. Interact with Ergo Smart Contract developers

 4. Navigate through basic ErgoScript”



Creating and deploying a curriculum takes considerable time and resources and the team behind the project have launched a fundraiser on Ergo Raffle: [ErgoLearn (DeCo) Funding](https://ergoraffle.com/raffle/show/d6941cb138ff2442d42a9636b8acf1ac06e2ca0665a884030e69499f0a2b139d). ErgoLearn on Ergo Raffle

It is important that easy access to on-chain data is available to all users so that people can stay informed as to what is happening on the blockchain. Blockchains are created to give people access to more financial tools and on-chain verifiability lets users know that there is no point of centralized failure. Ergo is made to create equity and easy access to products and information, as opposed to the opacity of traditional systems.

Ergo Watch: A Platform for On-Chain Analysis

Yasha and Ilya from the ErgoDEX team recently did an interview on [Adaverse](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sl-GSgyXDqU)’s Youtube channel. The team talked about the development roadmap of ErgoDEX, interoperability with Cardano and the highly anticipated ErgoDEX token.

Trading and [providing liquidity](https://finematics.com/liquidity-pools-explained/) in ErgoDEX are currently active and there is over $500K worth of assets locked. ERG/SigUSD and ERG/SigRSV tradable pairs are available and several developer teams are working on bridges to Ethereum, Solana and other EVM compatible chains. Additionally, there are teams working on the Yoroi dApp connector release. 

The Yoroi dApp connector was already in use on ErgoDEX with the Yoroi Nightly but now the update will be integrated into the alpha release. ERG integration with Ledger will also enable utilization of ErgoDEX via Yoroi with Ledger hardware wallets.

Ergo is built using the extended UTXO model. The benefits of the extended UTXO (eUTXO) model lie in its composability. Composability enables developing lighter applications that are interconnected and scalable, creating a unique DeFi experience on the blockchain. Other apps will be able to connect to ErgoDEX and utilize on-chain data more easily.

An important milestone on the ErgoDEX roadmap will be the release of Ergo Software Development Kits (SDKs). Ergo SDKs will allow for easier dApp deployments because new ones will be able to be built using the same stack as ErgoDEX. 

During the interview, the team revealed their excitement about the V5 release of Sigma State Interpreter. This update will significantly help dApp developers by making smart contracts cheaper and more predictable.

The DEX order book will be deployed soon and refundable initial coin offerings are also planned in the roadmap. This unique feature on ErgoDEX will integrate buy-back support and partial fillings for safer investment models. 

The decision to continually improve the user experience on Ergo is a priority for the team - this kind of work will make the cross-chain development process faster. Interoperability with Cardano is expected in 2022 but the team said it is hard to predict an exact date because of all the moving parts. (Note: In today's [ErgoPulse,](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7pj_MepctM) the team said development is going fast and release may come mid January) The first focus is to bring more assets such as USDT, BTC and ADA to ErgoDEX and provide a Metamask-like experience with the Yoroi dApp connector. 

With cross-chain integration, users of ErgoDEX will be able to swap between chains with just one click. Atomic swaps on ErgoDEX will enable an easy transfer of assets between chains. 

Another planned use case is to enable DeFi lending on ErgoDEX. Decentralized lending will allow inside-app borrowing for users. With DeFi lending, there are also plans for new models such as [leveraged liquidity farming](https://thedefiant.io/leveraged-yield-farming/) tools.

With regards to the ErgoDEX token, the team said they are researching meaningful use cases of the proposed token. Applications such as DeFi lending, leveraged farming or similar liquidity locking oriented tools could be suitable for using ErgoDEX tokens. The team said creating a token economy is a very sensitive discussion and they will be looking for the best ways to create profit for token holders. The token distribution model will be announced shortly after the token development is finalized.

ErgoDEX Roadmap Updates

[Ergo Raffle](https://bit.ly/3Ispsc2) platform is an on-chain crowdfunding platform where people can join raffles or initiate one. The platform was launched two months ago and has hosted many raffles. For a better user experience, the new interface is ready to use.

A raffle is a crowdfunding service that aims to enable anyone to raise enough money needed for a project. The project can be a direct donation to a charity, an academic or business plan, or anything else the creator can convince people to part with their hard-earned ERG for. As a bonus, after finishing the raffle, a lottery takes place, and a lucky participant wins the raffle reward.

Users can interact with the platform using a non-custodial wallet, like Yoroi or Anroid wallet. Smart contracts govern the platform, so there is not a middle party between the funders and beneficiaries. All the funds are stored in smart contracts and transactions are verifiable on-chain.

The main feature of our dApp is that the whole process is done using the contracts, and no external power can alter the raffle life cycle, even the ErgoRaffle system itself.

After collecting the funds, a Raffle takes place and pick a random winner by using block numbers. By computing random block numbers with the number of tickets and using the remainder value as input, the application selects the winner according to the ticket number.

Funds will be shared proportionally between charity and raffle, as declared in the funding campaign. If the target value is not reached, the raffle gets cancelled and users get their refund.

One of the best aspects of Ergo is the community, known across social media for its welcoming spirit, friendliness and very high concentration of tech-savvy members. The event that brings this community together like few other things is Ergo’s hackathon: ErgoHack.

For the level and variety of the participating talent as well as the passion in the community’s involvement, the Ergohack could well be the Olympic Games of Ergo.

Even though there have only been two ErgoHacks so far, the number of dApps and solutions that have resulted is staggering. Of these, one of the most popular has to be the Ergo Raffle, which was also the winner of the first Ergohack in June 2021.

The Ergo Raffle’s genius lies in its simplicity; it appeals both to our greed and our generosity. It sets up a game that can result in us either holding the winning or losing ticket but knowing we have helped a potentially worthwhile cause.

The amounts going to the winning ticket and the chosen charity vary from raffle to raffle - but you don’t need to be a charity! A lot of raffles have just been launched for fun.

To this day - keeping in mind Ergo Raffle has only been out for a couple of months - over ten raffles have been successfully funded for charities for a total of about $15,000.

Keeping true to the Ergonaut spirit, the community has focused on environmental, educational and humanitarian causes for Ergo Raffle. These include, but are not limited to, restoring the Mau Forest in Kenya, buying school supplies for disadvantaged children, financing a hydroponics garden for a high school and helping a Chechen school fund their computer based learning program.  

Furthermore, on more than one occasion, the Ergonaut community has extended its help to other crypto communities, such as Cardano.

One of the more successful Raffles was held to benefit the Wichì families of Chaco, Argentina. An Ergonaut reached out to Cardano Community member and friend CryptoGirlB, who operates the Cardano Stake Pool “WHITE”; this pool has famously and consistently been donating 100% of their pool rewards to Fundacion Espiga. A raffle was set up and within 48 hours the goal of 150 ERG was reached. By the end of the raffle the number had climbed to 170 ERG. The amount that has gone directly to Fundacion Espiga is 155 ERG which will help feed, clothe and finance housing for the Wichì community.

Espiga is now fully equipped with their own ERG wallet which will allow them to accept donations from the Ergo Community, be it through raffles or private initiative.

We all want to change the world for the better and Ergo is giving us the tools to level out the playing field. Ergo Raffle has taken that suggestion and is already shining, mere months after its conception.
